DESCRIPTION:The energy transition will be one of the defining challenges of the twenty-first century. The world must meet increasing energy demand reliably and affordably while also decreasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Meeting this lofty goal requires new technologies and business models\, advanced by the next generation of entrepreneurs. \nFrom Friday\, September 20\, 2024 to Sunday\, September 22\, 2024\, Greentown Houston will host a short course for Texas students as well as interested staff and faculty. The course will be delivered collaboratively by faculty from multiple Texas universities alongside faculty from the pioneering Climate & Energy Ventures Course at MIT\, which has educated entrepreneurs who have gone on to launch over 50 ventures over the past decade. \nThroughout the weekend\, participants will learn from leading academic minds in the field of energy innovation\, and they will work together on collaborative projects that could be the genesis of a new enterprise. They will leave the program with enhanced readiness to tackle one of the biggest problems humanity has ever faced. After the program\, TEX-E will provide follow-up opportunities where these newly forged champions can continue to hone their skills. \nThere are a few remaining slots still available. The TEX-E Bootcamp for Climatetech Entrepreneurship is a free weekend course that teaches undergraduate and graduate students how to start new ventures for the energy transition. The course will be taught collaboratively by faculty from Texas universities alongside faculty from MIT\, where the pioneering Climate & Energy Ventures Course has educated entrepreneurs who have gone on to launch over 50 ventures over the past decade. \nStudents do not need to come in with a startup company or idea. Beginners are welcome! Throughout the weekend\, participants will learn from leading academic minds in the field of energy innovation and work together on collaborative projects that could be the genesis of a new enterprise\, leaving the program with enhanced readiness to tackle one of the biggest problems humanity has ever faced. Following the bootcamp\, TEX-E will provide further opportunities for these newly forged climate champions to continue honing their skills. \nThe application deadline is Sunday\, August 27\, 11:59pm CT. Seats are limited\, and participants will be selected based on the quality of their applications. DESCRIPTION:The 2024 TEX-E Prize is part of the Energy Venture Day and Pitch Competition at CERAWeek\, co-hosted in partnership with the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI) and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.  The fast-paced competition is designed to connect energy startups with venture capitalists\, corporate innovation groups\, industry leaders\, academics\, and service providers. 44 ventures will be featured across three industry tracks\, spanning materials to clean energy\, plus the TEX-E Prize\, a track for enrolled university students.
