TEX-E is proud to welcome Mercury Fund as our newest Expert-in-Residence, expanding Fellows’ access to experienced investors, entrepreneurs, and leaders across Houston’s innovation ecosystem.

Mercury Fund is a Houston-based venture capital firm that partners with entrepreneurs building transformational software and technology companies. Through the Expert-in-Residence partnership, TEX-E Fellows will have opportunities to learn directly from the Mercury team about what it takes to move from an idea to a scalable company—from identifying opportunities and understanding customers to raising capital and building for growth.

The partnership will also give Fellows access to the experience of Blair Garrou, Managing Partner of Mercury Fund, who has spent decades investing in entrepreneurs and helping build Houston’s startup community. His work has included helping launch and grow organizations and initiatives that have strengthened the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

For TEX-E Fellows, that experience provides a valuable connection between energy innovation and entrepreneurship. Students will gain firsthand insight into how investors evaluate opportunities, what makes an early-stage company successful, and how founders can turn promising technologies and ideas into businesses with real-world impact.
