TEX-E recently announced the appointment of Taylor Chapman to its Board of Directors, strengthening the organization’s mission to equip the next generation of energy entrepreneurs.
Chapman is an investor in energy-transition startups at New Climate Ventures, where he focuses on seed-stage companies developing decarbonization technologies across areas such as advanced materials, next-gen manufacturing, and grid analytics.
“We are thrilled to welcome Taylor to the TEX-E board,” said Sandy Guitar, Executive Director of TEX-E. “His experience investing in energy innovation and his deep commitment to Houston’s future make him an incredible addition as we continue building a strong pipeline of student-driven energy entrepreneurship.”
“Taylor brings the rare combination of startup-building experience and strategic perspective that will help TEX-E continue guiding students as they explore entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship in energy innovation,” said Dave Pruner, Chairman of the Board at TEX-E. “His insight will be invaluable as we help students discover their path and turn ideas into real-world innovation.”
Prior to joining New Climate Ventures, Chapman led corporate venture capital and M&A at SEI (Nasdaq: STRA) and served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in New York. He has also held executive roles at venture-backed startups, including Remind, which reached the #1 position in the Apple App Store.
After more than a decade in New York City, Chapman returned to Houston in 2023 and co-authored a comprehensive study of the city’s climate tech ecosystem. He holds a BA from Yale University and a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
“I was drawn to TEX-E’s mission and the first-of-its-kind collaboration across six universities working together to build a talent pipeline in energy innovation,” said Chapman. “I look forward to joining David Baldwin, Bob Harvey, Emily Emmit, and Dave Pruner to support TEX-E’s mission and help equip the next generation of energy innovators.”
